Cybersecurity Undergraduate Research
Undergraduate Research. COVA CCI offers undergraduate students from across the region to participate in an undergraduate research program. This program allows the student to work on an independent cybersecurity research project with the assistance of a cyber mentor from either business or academia. This is a paid program, and the student will present their research during a showcase event at the end of the semester.
“I learned the research process is elastic and requires an openness to expanding research scope and considering new possibilities of what to include in the final research product. I also learned how to manage my time to conduct research and writing more incrementally.”
“This program pushed me to do independent research and create a final research product, which is a great thing to list on the resume and provides the chance to learn one aspect of cybersecurity more in-depth. I found this Program to be a great complement to my coursework in cybersecurity at ODU, and I value the connections to other educational institutions (e.g., William & Mary) that the Program provided. My research project could very well end up factoring into my future career directions in cybersecurity and law.”
“It was thrilling to be able to research a topic I’m passionate about and put my discoveries out there for others to see.”
Applications for the Spring 2026 program are closed.
ODU Digital Commons: Papers submitted through this program will be housed on the ODU Digital Commons website in addition to this website.
