Innovation
COVA CCI is working with several innovative programs to allow students to develop their workforce skills and to assist researchers in creating products or developing businesses that will expand the workforce in the Commonwealth.
The student innovation programs include:
Innovate Cyber Challenge: This program aims to develop work-related skills while students resolve important issues faced by local businesses and industries. Students work within a team to identify a challenge or issue related to cybersecurity. Using the design thinking approach to problem-solving, students were empowered to express their ideas, think creatively, and research within a high-impact team environment to identify solutions.

Undergraduate Research: COVA CCI offers undergraduate students from across the region to participate in an undergraduate research program. This program allows the student to work on an independent cybersecurity research project with the assistance of a cyber mentor from either business or academia. This is a paid program, and the student will present their research during a showcase event at the end of the semester.
